The Simplest Way to Feel Connected
Dear friends,
It’s in human nature to identify with the story of who we are, with the hero or the victim we are, with the failures and successes we generate.
It’s also in human nature to believe something still needs to happen before we enter that place where everything is alright.
When we are on the side of the hero and the successes, we are, for a very short moment, suspended from thinking something still needs to happen. We are in that place where everything is alright. We feel connected.
Only in a very unsustainable way.
Before long, the success isn’t big enough anymore. We have to start all over again.
Instead of identifying with our human nature, we can identify with our true nature.
It can be quite draining to live as an identified human.
I believe there is another way. Instead of identifying with our human nature, we can identify with our true nature.
It’s not dual and it’s very sustainable. It’s free. It’s love. It’s that place where everything is alright, regardless of stories about heroes and victims, successes or failures.
Most of you know this. Most of you are sometimes in that place and then again get lost in believing the stories.
Here is a very simple way to remember your true nature.
Connect to the elements. Literally. They are always there in their true nature, waiting for us to say hello.
… but simple and childish is very effective.
Here in Aotearoa it’s easy. I see the sea every day, and I can go for a swim every day. But the real magic happens when I go to the sea and say: hello sea, I see you.
It may sound very simple and almost childish, but simple and childish is very effective.
How often do you go by trees without noticing them? How many clouds do you take for granted? Birds are there to connect to every day.
In the end, you notice that there is a world you can connect to all the time. It’s just there. It’s saying hello to us all the time, just waiting for us to listen. Waiting for us to merge with it and remember our true nature.
Remembering our true nature is the theme of a retreat I’ll be leading three times this spring. You’ll find the calendar for the retreat here.
For those who like to hear me talk: on this page you’ll find a few short videos.
Next time you open the tap because you want water, say hello. Be amazed. Isn’t it wonderful how that water just runs over your hands?
Kia ora,
